London Attacked

So, supporters of NYC as a potential 2012 Olympics location had to defend the city against concerns of terrorism. Turns out everyone was focusing in the wrong spot. London was awarded the prestige of hosting the 2012 Olympics (did I mention they have a sweet logo?), and the next day their transit system was attacked by terrorists.

  1. You are tragicall UNhip. What kind of name is Kim for a guy to have anyway? Though I DO envy your multiple wife-having ability, you are a complete idiot.

  2. Oh. Yay. I finally received a comment from a 13-year-old. I have been waiting for this moment for all my life.

Kim is the kind of name for a guy that has been used for centuries. In fact, it was used for several centuries before Kimberley ever became popular and shortened to Kim.

I was unaware of my ability to have multiple wives. It is my understanding that polygyny is illegal in Canada. I will have to look into it though.

  3. what do you mean what kind of nams is Kim for a guy to have? I dare you to come here and ask me that to my face!!

Gee Kim does Mary know you can have multiple wives?

  4. LOL he would hardly have TIME for another wife (or be able to afford one, hehe). He likes the one he has anyway :)

  5. oh and anyone who doesn’t realise that Kim is an authentically male name shows extreme ignorance and lack of education. And I can tell you for certain, knowing my husband very well, that he is very hip and cool and wonderful.

  6. Kim,

There must be some way to eliminate bloggers who correctly identify themselves.
Clearly, he is an idiot and an abuser.

  7. Sorry, Larry. We can’t eliminate idiots. Something under the rocks keeps breeding them.

Actually, Blogger does not provide a way to limit comments.

Looks like his blog was deleted though. I wonder why.

  8. Kim,

Only a complete idiot would call YOU, of all people, an idiot. And only a complete and wholly unscrupulous idiot would call you an idiot on a thread having to do with our suffering friends in Britannia.

Also, if it’s any consolation to you, I too have a first name that is, more often than not, considered a girl’s name (though the spelling is a little different). “Jack” is just a psuedonym–not because I don’t like my first name, I love it!

    Jack

  9. The attack on London was horrific. I hadn’t connected it to the Olympics announcement.

    The logo is brilliant.

Wow, what would it be like to have something you designed launched at the Tate?

  10. Thanks, Jack. I am pleased with my name. I like having a unique name. I like doing a search for my name and know that the 25,000 results are about me.

Johnna, I would love something I did to be launched at the Tate. Actually, I’d love anything I designed to get any sort of public attention.

  11. Just on your mention of NY’s Olympic bid, I thought NY’s logo was much more imaginative than London’s – Liberty with the torch on one side, and an athlete’s arm raised in triumph on the other.

It’s been said that only London taxpayers will finance the Games, but I’m not convinced. Britain doesn’t have a good record of delivering major public projects on time or on budget, and it’s only a matter of time before the Government declares London’s Olympics to be “of national importance” as a pretext for a tax raid on a national scale – sadly there are many people in power here who think that any organizational or management problem can be solved just by throwing more money at it.

  12. NY’s logo is nice. But I wouldn’t go so far as to say it is more imaginative. It’s easy to see at first glance that the NY logo features the Statue of Liberty and an athlete. It’s not as easy to see at first glance the River Thames in the London logo.

Regarding the NY logo, I don’t understand why they didn’t just replace the light blue in the 0 with black. Had they done so, they could have used every colour of the olympic rings. I’m not sure what significance the light blue has, or why it plays a more prominent role in the logo. I know there is black in the words “Candidate City”, but assuming NY won the bid, those words would be gone.
