My Turn To Brag!!

Beautiful Lauren Elizabeth Bates was born August 14th, 2005 at 10:55 p.m. She weighed in at 6 lbs 11 oz and is 20 1/2 inches long.

She is the 2nd daughter of my oldest son, Sterling, and his beautiful wife Liz. You should see her older sister and cousins. Man I do good work (bowing to loud applause and showing appropriate humility).

This now makes four grandchildren, with two more on the way. This grandparenting stuff can get real exciting, and it is definitely rewarding.

I wanted to post her picture but it’s been suggested that that’s not a good thing. (I had to delete a bunch of comments here because they weren’t in keeping with the wonderful announcement, so I’ll blog on it another day)

  1. Larry,

Good for you! I look forward to being a grandpa. My oldest is turning sixteen next month so I have a few years to go. But I look forward to having loads of fun with my grand children and then returning them to their parents when they (or I) have had enough.

    Jack

  2. oh congratulations!!!!! Being a grandparent is the best thing in the world. We are waiting for our 12th to come in about 6 weeks or so and I wouldn’t trade the experience in the world!!!! You are right to be as proud as you are

  3. Sally,

Since you and I can relate, we ought to blog on this and make our children jealous. (Jack is ever so slow. Tell your son to grow up…..quickly, bud.) :)
We ought to blog on the trials and tribulations of raising children, the stress, the sacrifices, and follow that up with the joy of grandchildren, the blessings they are, the great fun we have with them, how much fun they are to spoil….and the joy of sending them home to their parents. :)
