Slow

The Lord said the following to Abraham:

“I dwell in heaven; the earth is my footstool; I stretch my hand over the sea, and it obeys my voice; I cause the wind and the fire to be my chariot; I say to the mountains?¢‚Ǩ‚ÄùDepart hence?¢‚Ǩ‚Äùand behold, they are taken away by a whirlwind, in an instant, suddenly.” (Abr. 2:7)

So why is it then that God’s culminating creation isn’t as quick to obey. Why is it with all of our intelligence, self awareness and emotion that we are slow to hearken to the commands of God?

  1. One word: will

According to canon, man has been given will (free or not) and that is what differentiates us from the wind , sea and mountains…we have a choice whether or not to be moved.

  2. It’s the misuse of that will that makes man, in one sense, less than the dust. (See Helaman 12:4-13)
