Conflict of Interest

Whereas cabinet ministers?¢‚Ǩ‚Äùcompared to members of the opposition party?¢‚Ǩ‚Äùare paid more, have a higher pension, personal staff, a private car an driver, and other perks, does the promotion of David Emerson from the Liberal party to a minister position in the Conservative party violate Article 8 of the Conflict of Interest Code by Emerson and/or Harper?

When performing parliamentary duties and functions, a Member shall not act in any way to further his or her private interests or those of a member of the Member?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s family, or to improperly further another person?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s private interests.
