That ad brings up a idea that I think was mentioned on Feminist Mormon Housewives. Basically what was said was that if you switched the principles in that kind of joke and it ceased to be funny– well, that told you that the original wasn’t very funny either. If the ad had said “Muslims should only speak 50 words a day,” or “gays should only speak 50 words a day,” I sincerely doubt they would have used it.
The corporation is back-peddling as fast as it can now but they can’t blame it on the creative team. Someone gave it the go-ahead. I’m not saying that person should be hunted down and punished, just that the company should quit passing the buck.
