  1. But what happened to Canadian Tire? When I was there, they were the closest thing to Wal-Mart.

  2. Canadian Tire is hardly anything like Wal-Mart. Canadian Tire specialises in automotive, household stuff, mainly. Sporting goods, etc. No clothes or shoes or groceries there.

  3. Back then I don’t remember seeing ANYTHING in Quebec that was really like Wal-Mart. So CT was the closest thing I could think of. But that was a long time ago.

Do they still give out those cool coupons?

  4. The Canadian Tire dollars? Yes, they do, and it sure comes in handy sometimes.

Hmmm, when were you in Quebec? Zellers has been around quite awhile, and then there was Woolco, Eatons, The Bay, Woodwards, Sears, KMart. Only the Bay and Zellers and pretty much around these days, well and Wal-Mart.

  5. When I was in Canada 1986-87, The Bay I went to was more of an upscale department store like Macy’s than a big-box discount store like Wal-Mart. Has it changed?
