Perfect Body

The soul shall be restored to the body, and the body to the soul; yea, and every limb and joint shall be restored to its body; yea, even a hair of the head shall not be lost; but all things shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame. (Alma 40:23)

So, any idea how the “prefect frame” will be determined? I have heard some people (mainly women) talk about how they will have hourglass-shaped bodies with 4% body fat. Is being overweight imperfect? Will everyone be the same height and have the same hair colour? Is there an absolute standard of perfection that God will use? Will it mirror’s the ideal of the western society?

  1. Perfection would be being able to eat a Cheesecake Cafe Cheesecake Banana Split and it would be HEALTHY for you.

I will be a size 6…hmmm, maybe that would be too small. Ok, size 9.

  2. How about for men? How much muscle will we have? Will we need to exercise and keep eating salad greens?

  3. “yea, even a hair of the head shall not be lost”

I’m just wondering how this will apply to personal grooming, ie nose, ear, facial and the other personal hair.

Seems like it may be an esthetician’s worst nightmare, I mean just consider how much effort is put into removing certain bodily hair now.

Are we going to see an afterlife full of hairy-legged mono-brows?

    Think about it.

  4. perfect as compared to what? Is it perfect just like the 7 day Creation time frame being the Lord’s time frame? Is it His idea of perfection or ours? How do you reinstore body parts that were removed during surgery? Or cremation?

  5. Ha ha Rick I have wondered about the same question in regards to unwanted body and facial hair!

  6. So Mary, in your version do we choose our own, or does our spouse choose our body for us?

It seems to me that the latter sounds much more interesting…

    =)

  7. Hey I just thought of something.. if our bodies will be perfected does that mean we will finally be able to reach that spot that is in between our shoulder blades that always gets itchy but we can’t reach now?

  8. Do perfect bodies itch?

Kind of defeats the whole notion of perfect, no?

  9. LOL, well maybe a co-effort. I want to choose my own. I am perfectly happy with Kim’s body, he’s already perfect in my eyes :) But mine….

Mum, we SHOULD be able to!

And yes, hey a body should itch because you know when you need to itch it is SO satisfying to scratch it is it not??

  10. I don’t know about spouses choosing each other’s bodies. I for one, do not really want to be a DD cup.

  11. I think the “perfect” body will be or has been detrmined by one that is “Perfect”. All through the ages, man has changed his perception of the perfect female or male physique… Slightly plump as in the greek and roman statues, or 4% bodyfat with washboard stomachs as seen in today’s health and fitness magazines. (The ancient greeks would think our 6 packs makes us look like termites, and some think the greeks were fat).

In my opinion, in part, a “perfect body” means that our organs will not decay or breakdown but will funtion 100% therefore elliminating the possibility of another physical death. All the other healthy variations in height, weight just won’t matter to us.
