I was surprised back in '85 when the new Enlgish hymnal came out with no anthem for Canada, Australia, and so forth. I was told at the time that the plan was for such anthems to be added on a local basis. The French hymnal I had at the time included Swiss, French, and Belgian anthems, if I remember right.

Maybe next time around we'll get more national songs in.

On a side note, I was noticing yesterday that My Country, 'Tis of Thee (sung, of course, to the tune of God Save the Queen) is not really specific to the United States in its lyrics. It could be---and I hope is---sung about a lot of countries.

Oh Canada! is not in our Unistatian copies of the English language hymn book. I have heard that it is a supplement in yours. True?
