&lt;p&gt;There is of course a concept of women having a share of the Priesthood through the sealing powers.  I think the early saints generally felt that Mother&#039;s prayers over the sick were like a priesthood blessing.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Yet my feeling is this may have more to do with the temple endownment.  But to be honest, as I said that is about as far as I could speculate.&lt;/p&gt;
