How to Clean Like a Man

I recently started a new blog called ?¢‚Ǩ?ìHow to Clean Like a Man?¢‚Ǩ¬ù.

I started this weekly blog after growing tired of women accusing men (and men self-deprecating themselves) of not knowing how to clean. I was raised in a home with four boys and a girl, and each of us performed every household chore in our home.

I was doing dishes when I was 7. I was doing laundry when I was 8. I was cooking supper when I was 12.

I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ve cleaned the washroom, wash floors, cleaned counters, swept, vacuumed, washed walls, washed counter, organized cupboards, folded clothes, washed windows, and, well, you get the idea.

I will post weekly about a specific cleaning topic with instructions and step-by-step photos.

  1. Sorry, Kim, but your cause is hopeless. The main problem is that most men have one more category than women have. To women, there is only 2 categories – dirty and clean. But for men there’s a third – Better Than It Was, or as we would say, “beternitwas.” If it wasn’t for this category, men would never try cleaning at all!

Also, to men, if it doesn’t “look” dirty, then it ain’t dirty. No women can relate to this idea. Men are much more comfortable sharing their domain with bacteria and other less visible critters than women are.

  2. I have to agree with larryco_

However, I would love to know how it was that your parents were getting you to do the dishes at 7. I can’t get my kids to do them unless I stand over them and threaten them with their lives…

  3. All I remember is their asking us, which is what we do with our children. We ask them to do the dishes and they do them. Cleaning their rooms, well, that’s another story.

  4. So larryco is stating that women are genetically predisposed to be better cleaners than men? I would have to disagree.

  5. Ah, Kim and T, you tire of my satire? Well, if not the dishes, I’ll see if I can at least clean up my act.
