Today is an historic day

I’m not the only one to post about this today, but having taken women studies classes, written papers on gender equality in the church, and about to start graduate research in women studies, I just had to post.

Today, Jean A. Stevens, First Counsellor in the general Primary presidency, became the first woman to pray in general conference. For the last 183 years, no woman had prayed in conference.

Some people I know consider this a small step; some consider it insignificant and not enough. To me it’s one less thing that keeps men and women apart.

Who knows what the future might hold?
