As I mentioned last month, they recently did a shakeup of all the family stakes in Lethbridge.
As a result, we are in a new ward and a new stake (although we still have the stake president of the previous stake, so technically, we’re still in the same stake, but it’s been renamed and has only some of its previous wards).
Actually, we’re kind of back in the first ward we lived in when we moved to Lethbridge. Its boundaries have changed significantly since we moved away 23 years ago, but our old home is still in the ward boundaries of this ward.
Anyhow, I received my first calling in this ward. I’m the new temple and family history leader. It’s basically the team lead for all the temple and family history consultants.
I had this calling in our previous ward from 2016 until 2019.
It’ll be interesting getting myself situated in this calling, as I don’t really know how things have been going in this area or what the skill level or capacity of the existing consultants are.
I had to attend ward council this morning. I guess I’m part of the ward council. In our last ward, I wasn’t considered a member of the ward council when I had this calling there.
I don’t mind this calling. I’ve been working on family history for about 35 years or so, since I was a teenager. My mum and step-dad joined the church when I was in elementary school, and they were the only ones in their family to join the church. My mum comes from a very strong Catholic tradition. She was the only one on her side of the family doing family history, and it rubbed off on me. I have been the only one, really, to do family history on my biological father’s (Siever) side. As a result, I’ve done a lot.
Hopefully, I can help ward members in their own efforts over the next little while.
