About a month ago, Conservatives were up in arms with Virginia introducing the Repeal Act in their House of Representatives. While the bill will improve access to abortions for pregnant women, it doesn’t change when women can access an abortion. Conservatives were claiming that the changes would allow so-called “late-term abortions”, but third-trimester abortions are already legal in Virginia.

Gender and sexuality are things we all force upon our children, as society and as parents.
If our child is born with a penis, for example, the doctor tells us it’s a boy. We believe that doctor and raise that child as a boy. We assign him gendered pronouns and give him a gendered name. We envision him growing into a man one day. We dream of him falling in love with a woman and providing us with grandchildren one day.

Over the last few months, I’ve seen people sharing memes and links about trans women athletes competing on primarily cis women teams. They’re worded in a way to get people worked up over having a “biological male” or “genetic male” competing with “biological/genetic females”, with the assumption that being assigned male at birth gives athletes some sort of advantage.
This just isn’t true.

Sure, the fact that 47% of the workforce in Canada, for example, 25 years old and older are women is part of that point. If they all walked off the job, we’d have to somehow virtually double the men in the workforce. And that’s not including females under 25.
